Got damn this hasn't happened to me in years. Dip in to replay Dark Souls 3 on PC (haven't played it since launch, nor have I played the DLC) and information technology has no cloud saves! I but assumed! I rebuilt ish my pc last yr and didn't carp to back any saves up at all. Get-go fourth dimension that'due south biting me in the ass....
Wtf from!
Dealt with this shit all the time every bit a kid, this pain kind of has some nostalgia to information technology lmao
#2
I saw your post in the OT, I'grand sorry dude :(
Cloud saves should be a basic thing in 2021
#iii
Yes. Happened to me recently with Dark Souls three too. I feel your hurting.
#4
Yep. Happened to me recently with Dark Souls 3 likewise. I feel your hurting.
I'm more shocked I swear don't even know what to exercise with myself rn
#5
Happened to me with a couple of GamePass games, lol.
#half dozen
I didn't know this either. Guess i'm doing the first of DS3 again lol.
#seven
Yeah happen to my dumbass my whole 7 Days To Dice salve is gone now.
#8
My condolences OP. I'one thousand 100% definitely going to practise this to myself one twenty-four hour period :P

Steam Deject is actually set up, but since Bamco forgot to untick the box that restricts information technology to dev accounts and has never bothered to fix this oversight, nobody can actually utilise information technology.
Thanks, Bamco!
Edit: Valve really ought to allow users to configure Steam Deject manually, including overriding the official configuration, and have Steam salve that info to the shared config file (which is stored both locally and remotely). Information technology'd solve this sort of thing, as well as odd cases like Rage, where Steam Deject is configured to support config files but not saves.

I played through the early on Assassin'south Creed games on PC a few years agone. I fabricated the movement from a laptop to a desktop while I was playing AC Brotherhood and of course it didn't accept cloud saves despite being on Steam. It's weird because if I'm not mistaken AC2 has.
#11
It caught me out badly with Mass Effect Andromeda because it doesn't have Cloud Saves on Steam, it's through EA Origin only. But for some reason information technology glitched and I lost a fifty hour save. With Andromeda existence Andromeda it's now a game I will never bear on over again.
#12
...oh.... I never backed up my Dark Souls iii data when swapping systems. Whelp.
#xiii
Happened with me with GTAV years ago.
Never bothered to play it since.

I more often than not don't listen about losing saves since I like replaying games but sometimes it hurts. At present I check the Steam shop page whenever I uninstall something I've been playing for a while and I manually back stuff upward if in that location'south no Steam Cloud.
In related news, how in the hell are some of these games missing cloud back up? Costs the -publisher $0 bated from the small amount of QA testing.
FYI, there'due south a way to really download your Steam Cloud saves from any browser. Doesn't require the client.
#15
It sucks a lot. Information technology should come before damn Steam trading cards.
Valve should make a piece of cake salve backup solution.
#16
The just time a cloud save has failed me is on the epic game store, some how my corrupted save was all the cloud had, which made the whole bespeak of a deject save pointless.
But otherwise cloud saves take always worked well for me, peculiarly on steam, xbox, and PS.
#17
This is why I have dead space hidden in my library and why I backup up my ds3 salve. It'south kind of insane that cloud saves nonetheless aren't standardized.
#18
Yeah, I somehow assumed it had deject saves as well. Luckily I plant it in a organization backup folder from a few years back.
Now that I think of it I don't know where my FTL save is, I'd hate to lose that 1. I don't call back it had cloud saves when I was playing it.
#19
Add together me to the Nighttime Souls iii pile.
#20
I'grand used with deject saves on Xbox for like 10 years already and I'm baffled every time I see an story like yours, feels bad.
#21
Back upward your pcs. There is always something you will forget well-nigh, fifty-fifty if you don't have a data loss consequence. I have a daily replica to a nas and I offsite it to backblaze b2.
#22
I too recently lost my endgame Dark Souls three save file because I assumed it had cloud saves. I read somewhere that the piece of work was actually done to enable deject saves for DS3 but they just forgot to enable it.
#23
GameSave Manager is your friend. Point information technology to a cloud drive and schedule a nightly backup, or utilise the sync-and-link functionality to roll your own realtime cloud saving
#24
I knew what the game was going to be before opening the thread. Had the exact same outcome :(
#25
Yep I got in the habit of backing my saves upward manually a long time ago. Even if a game has cloud saves I yet practice it considering why non.
#26
It's off for all Dark Souls games. I'll never understand why
#27
For me it'southward was Bloodborne when I upgraded to the PS4 Pro thinking that the cloud saves on PS4 sync automatically... Nope... Opened Bloodborne and it overwrote my deject salvage. Automated deject saves and sync should be a standard on every platform and not behind a paywall either.
#28
I always back up my salve information periodically when playing through a long game. It takes a few seconds to .rar a folder and throw it on my FTP. It's just habit at present. Even with deject saves and stuff, I keep these transmission backups.
#29
It wasn't as much of a problem for me before but since the update that changed Steam's library to something shittier it's been harder to tell at a glance which games accept deject saves, which yeah, a bit of an annoyance.
#30
DS1 has cloud saves. ii and 3 don't. DS1 remastered does.
Makes perfect sense.
#31
was thinking in my head earlier i clicked on the thread "hey, that happened to me and ds3".
#32
Happened to me with doom eternal, good thing it wasn't needed for the DLCs
#33
Whelp, you just gave me a terrible news. I had no idea the game didn't have cloud saving. I can't even recollect whatsoever other Steam game I played in the last few years that didn't. Including the other From Software titles.
#34
Thanks for the news. It looks like I'm never installing Dark Souls 3 again.
#35
I made this awful discovery about some games when I bought a gaming laptop a couple months agone after being away from PC gaming for several years.
#36
Yup, happened to me too. "Welp, guess I'one thousand never finishing DS3!" every bit I uninstall it.
#37
I had to reinstall Windows because the cumulative update 2021-03 broke my installation and I lost my NieR Automata salvage because the Game Laissez passer version, which doesn't accept cloud saves, stores the file in AppData and not in the Documents folder, which is automatically backed upward online and a different bulldoze. I lost about 20-25 hours of progress and I don't call up I'll get back to the game someday before long.
Deject saves should exist mandatory for Game Pass games on PC.
Pyro
God help united states of america the mods are making weekend threads
#38
Thanks for the heads up OP, going through DS3 with a friend every now and and so and now I know if I ever uninstall it to make backups.
#39
Got burned with precisely Dark Souls 3 too when I moved to europe, I was like fourscore% done with it. Eventually replayed from scratch but damn. Now I'll make sure to check the large games I'm playing before doing a change of PC instead of bold my steam games saves are all in the cloud like they should.
#40
We have all lost a Dark Souls save because of this bullshit. :(
#41
Nighttime Souls saves are such a pain to manage.
#42
I always fill-in my whole documents folder even when most games take cloud save, every game has their saves in some weird location or the cloudsave option is ticked off.
#43
What's actually stupid is that some games on Steam with cloud saves don't necessarily have them on some other launcher, and vice versa. I recollect there are a few EA games that accept them on Origin, only not on Steam, for example.
Steam Deject is really ready up, but since Bamco forgot to untick the box that restricts it to dev accounts and has never bothered to fix this oversight, nobody can actually employ it.
Thanks, Bamco!
Edit: Valve really ought to allow users to configure Steam Cloud manually, including overriding the official configuration, and have Steam salve that info to the shared config file (which is stored both locally and remotely). It'd solve this sort of thing, besides as odd cases like Rage, where Steam Cloud is configured to back up config files but not saves.
Well this case is only idiotic, and so.
#44
Knew this was gonna be Nighttime Souls 3 before I clicked it. Happened to me likewise.
#45
that's what I hate virtually gamepass on PC, you'd recall a subscription service like that would at the very least accept cloud saves for every single release but nope, lost my save on The Surge 2 when I made my new PC.
#46
Omg, the same happpened to me final year. I wasn't even mad tbh, a new reason to replay the game with a new character.
#47
Another i for DS3 from me, was at the terminal boss of the base game with but Nameless Rex left (and the dlc) when I decided to upgrade my system drive...and yeah.
